The past few weeks has brought a lot of change to our little corner of the world. The spread of the Coronavirus is causing businesses to close and events to be cancelled, which includes any plans we had for doing a physical event this spring. Since the Rexburg Pop Up Shop mission is to always make the community better, we brainstormed ideas for a new way to do this event that would help our community. I proposed the idea of doing an online marketing seminar and, after more brainstorming, we finally landed on our idea for the next event.
Since so many of the community members are worried about local small businesses and how these business owners can make a living when nobody can visit their stores, we decided to do an online event. This will include a Facebook group where local business owners can apply to be part of the event. I set up the email verbiage that they will receive when they get accepted with details on the event. They will be able to promote their goods or services and issue gift cards or coupons to community members to use at a later date when we can all safely go to the restaurants and stores again. Vendors/ business owners will be able to spread awareness of their business to the community members and hopefully get through this hard time. We haven’t gotten all the details yet but I have had fun for these past few weeks figuring out the best way to help the community through digital advertising and event marketing.
