Why a Wedding Guide?

It’s no secret that BYU and BYU-Idaho students, or even young members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, are more likely to get married at a young age compared to their peers at other schools (even if you just live in Utah or Idaho). As a student at one of these schools, I feel like half of my classmates got married before graduating college. I’m one of those students who got married before graduating- though I was the “exception to the rule”,  because Jeff and I dated for almost 3 years before tying the knot. I’m not saying it’s good or bad, but it seems like the average time for a Latter-Day Saint couple to know each other before getting married is about a year.

While now isn’t the time to unpack why this happens, I know many students are looking to have a nice wedding while saving money. Understandably, many poor college students simply can’t afford to spend 20k on their wedding. Some things like venues, formal wear, and beauty services are so overpriced simply because they say “wedding” on them instead of “event”. As someone who is both a bridal makeup artist and who just got married myself, I do feel a responsibility to pass on my knowledge when it comes to wedding planning in this area. If you know me, you know I hunt for good deals and the best value when I buy pretty much anything, but especially when it comes to weddings. So here on my blog, you can see what I’ve found to be the best value on things for your wedding.
